Checked Out… Or?

Engaged?

Employee engagement has barely budged in almost two decades. Although Gallup has been tracking employee engagement since 2000, engagement levels remain a crisis in the US and globally. According to Gallup:

Although there have been some slight ebbs and flows, less than one-third of U.S. employees have been engaged in their jobs and workplaces during these 17 years.

So, how can you influence engagement in your own business? We like to say engagement is as much the will of the people as it is the will of the CEO or senior level leaders.

Be a change agent in your own pocket of influence, take a drip approach. You may not be able to change the entire business culture, but you can positively impact your direct environment and those around you. How? Lock arms and ask,

  • What can we do around here to make a difference?
  • What’s getting in the way of achieving our desired outcomes?

And then, as a team, tackle the high leverage suggestions and solutions for engaging more people. Keep this mantra top of mind, “How can we help each other add value, feel valued and make a contribution?” You have a choice, you can check out or standout… Engaged people standout and gain input and involvement from the top, middle and front line. It takes a team!

We have worked with countless organizations to help them build teams of influence and grow engagement. If you are interested in learning more, contact Darcy@Freibergs.com
